On Scene With Scholarship Foundation of IRC Supporters of the Scholarship Foundation of Indian River County came out in large numbers, wearing colorful ties for the 5th Annual “Tie” Bration. The event celebrates the things that “tie” us together, in honor of the late Darby Gibbons who was a teacher and counselor at St. Edward’s School and who had an extensive tie collection.

On Scene With HBOI Foundation The third time was a charm for the Harbor Branch Oceanographic Institute Foundation’s annual “Love Your Lagoon” dinner. This year, organizers doubled sponsorships and boosted ticket sales, bringing in critical funding to benefit FAU Harbor Branch Oceanographic Institute’s Indian River Lagoon Observatory research and outreach efforts.
On Scene With … Council on Aging of Martin County The Kane Center in Stuart hosted an authentic Hawaiian Hukilau, complete with Mai Kai-style dinner show, fire dancer, tropically-inspired menu and entertainment by Solid Gold. The event attracted more than 200 attendees and raised $150,000-plus for the Council and its vital services for seniors.
On Scene With Childcare Resources This year marks the 20th anniversary of Childcare Resources. Co-founders Sandy Kahle, Sherry Waddell and Kathy Marshall, early childhood education advocates, identified the need for affordable, quality childcare in Indian River County and went to work to accomplish the goal. Today, for qualified families, Childcare Resources subsidizes the cost of childcare, making tuition much more manageable.
On Scene With …. Hibiscus Children’s Center The 23rd Annual Jo Covelli Fashion Show and Luncheon was – as always – glamorous, fun-filled and well-attended. It’s always a highlight of “the season,” showing off the elegant Sailfish Point Country Club in a beautiful light.
On Scene With Treasure Coast Food Bank 25-years and counting! Treasure Coast Food Bank celebrated its anniversary in style with a VIP cocktail party at its new and much larger facility on Angle Road in Fort Pierce.
Thousands came out on a beautiful Saturday to the 3rd Annual Treasure Coast BBQ Championship to benefit the Humane Society of St. Lucie County. After months of preparation by the planning committee, led by Annette Miller and Art Allen, the winning teams were announced: Hot Wachulas took first-place and the $2,500 grand prize. The Resereve Champion was Smokin'Flames, taking home $1,500. A great time was had by all!
On Scene With Vero Beach Art Club The Art by the Sea show, recently held at the Vero Beach Museum of Art, was a huge success – thank to the more than 50 volunteers. Show chair Julianne Martensen along with Caroline Fredericksen and Adriana Bitter saw to every detail of the show’s success.
On Scene With National Navy UDT-SEAL Museum Folks at the National Navy UDT-SEAL Museum in Fort Pierce opened its doors to World War II veterans (and their spouses) currently residing at The Lynmoore Assisted Living Facility. Many memories were stirred.
On Scene With SunUp ARC SunUp ARC and Vero Beach Elks Lodge 1774 joined forces to present Casino Magnifique to benefit SunUp ARC. Event co-chairs Mary Jacoby and Elaine Jones and their committee turned the Lodge into a Las Vegas-style casino with blackjack tables, roulette wheels and other games that drew more than 200 guests.
On Scene With Homeless Family Center A sold out crowd of 330 guests attended the 6th annual Vero’s Top Chef Qualifying event at the Vero Beach Elks Lodge, where 11 chefs battled for the four spots to advance to the Finale on March 10 at Quail Valley River Club.
On Scene With St. Andrew’s Episcopal Academy Raising funds for St. Andrew’s Episcopal Academy in Fort Pierce was a success at the annual dinner, this year themed, “A Night Before Christmas-Into the Woods.”
On Scene With Backus Gallery & Museum A beautiful sunny day in Florida was the backdrop for "Sunday in Key West" to benefit the A.E. Backus Museum. The sold out crowd enjoyed a brunch buffet, a fabulous live auction and a raffle for a solid gold Krugerrand valued at $1,300.
